Protect folders with a password – this is how you secure content in the CMS
In this tutorial, you will learn step by step how to protect folders in the CMS with a password, test access, and selectively grant users or groups access. This way, you reliably secure entire folders, including all subpages, images, and documents.
Protect folders with a password
In this tutorial, you will see how to protect folders in the CMS with a password. To do this, open the click path CMS ⯈ File Manager and select the folder Blog as an example.
Check current access
Before you activate password protection, first check the current access. Switch to Safari on your iPad and navigate to the folder Blog.
The page is currently displayed without protection and is freely accessible. It is located within the folder Blog.
Enable password protection
Go back to the bluetronix CMS and click on Password Protection in the file manager. Activate password protection for the selected folder there.
Optionally, you can allow users without access to register. The password recovery function is also optional. Adjust these settings as needed.
Define & save group
Now define a group. All users in this group, for example internal, will receive access to the folder with their account.
Then click on Save to activate password protection. A lock symbol will appear next to the protected folder in the CMS.
Test password protection
Go back to Safari, refresh the page, and click on the folder Blog again.
Instead of the page, a login form will now be displayed. Only users with a valid email address and password can log in. If registration is enabled, users can register themselves directly.
Alternative: Create web users
If only a small group should have access, create new users through Users ⯈ Web Users. These accounts are exclusively for the protected folder.
Effect of password protection
The password protection automatically applies to the entire folder and all subfolders.
All files in the folder are affected – HTML pages, PDFs, and images. All content will then only be available under password protection.
